GASTONIA — Benedict Imparato, a seventh-grader at St. Michael School, shows the medal he brought home from the N.C.
Student Academy of Science’s recent annual science fair.
He won third place in middle school biology with his experiment on how sunlight affects the speed at which a Venus fly trap closes.
Previously, “Watch Out for That Trap: Timing Venus Flytraps Exposed to Different Amounts of Light” won second place at the St. Michael School Science Fair, then took first place in the junior biological sciences category at the Regional Science Fair at UNC-Charlotte.
