Serving Christ and Connecting Catholics in Western North Carolina

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, now is a good time to reflect on everything and everyone we are grateful for. The Pilgrims gave thanks for the Native Americans who taught them to farm the land, and many of the coming feast days in the Church suggest that we remember to give thanks for those who share their knowledge with us: our parents, teachers, priests, deacons, catechists and coaches. From Doctors of the Church to members of the Holy Family, everyone has a teacher to thank!

111023 CAW AquinasSt. Albert the Great (depicted above) was an apt student and teacher of philosophy – so much so that he became a Doctor of the Church. However, he also formed and taught a fellow Doctor of the Church and one of the greatest Catholic philosophers of all time: St. Thomas Aquinas. St. Albert, whose feast day is Nov. 15, was also known as a skilled mediator. Seek his intercession for wisdom and peace. Learn more at www.catholic.org.
