ASHEBORO — Parishioners from St. Joseph Church in Asheboro staged an outdoor Living Stations of the Cross, or Via Crucis, on Good Friday.

The stunning and elaborate reenactment evoked great emotion, both from people portraying the Passion scenes as well as people in the audience.

These photos by correspondent Amber Sheriff depict Jesus being flogged and Mary, the Mother of God, meeting Jesus on the way to His crucifixion, weeping at the foot of the cross, and mourning over her dead Son’s body taken down from the cross.
